HOW DO AUTOMATIC DOORS WORK?
We've all seen them: they're either painted a dark color or a dull gray, are stationary, or are part of an office building's interior design. But did you know that automatic doors can be an effective security device? In fact, they provide for the most secure access control available in today's security market. If you're looking for a way to improve security in your business, or if you just want a convenient new entryway for your building, an automatic door can provide you with everything you need.
How do automatic doors work? They work by detecting movement, which is done by a set of infrared sensors located throughout the door. These sensors are typically found on the top or bottom of the doorway, but can also be found on the side as well. When a person or pet walks through the doorway, the infrared sensor "reads" the movement and "fires" an alarm, signaling a warning to the door controller. However, these same sensors can also detect if the person is trying to enter an area that the door cannot sense.
So how do automatic doors enable touchless entry? When a person or pet enters a door, the door opens, the sensors detect their presence, and the system tells the controller. Once a user enters a space, the door automatically closes. This is because when you press a button to open a door, the automatic doors open, the sensors detect motion, and the door automatically closes.
There are many different types of Door Controls's automatic doors available, based on the type of sensor used and the type of automatic entry system. Some of the different types are: chain drive, screw drive, belt drive, vertical track, and multi-track systems. Each of these different types have their own advantages and disadvantages. One thing to keep in mind is that most systems require two or more sensors to detect the same movements, so there may be interference between different types of sensors.
How do automatic doors work with revolving doors? Revolving doors will usually have a number of detectors on the inside track and one or more on the outside track of the space, which gives the illusion of the doors opening and closing independently of each other. This is one of the main advantages of this type of door: it requires very little manual labor to operate.
How do automatic doors work with sliding doors? In the case of sliding doors, you must detect the track and then set the pivot point to determine whether or not the sliding door opens or shuts. In some cases, the motor may also need to be engaged and then controlled manually. This has the advantage of making it easy to prevent accidental operation that would otherwise break the hinge seal.
How do automatic doors work with optical sensors? The most common type for automatic doors is an infrared sensor. This sensor recognizes patterns of light, which is converted into heat signals and converted into motion. The sensor will either trigger a signal to open or close the door, depending upon the pattern of light that is detected. The good thing is that this type of sensor is quite sensitive, which means it is seldom triggered by very low light levels.
How do automatic doors work with ultrasonic sensors? This sensor detects frequencies in the air that are caused by the speed of moving objects. This type of sensor is typically used in businesses, where doors must be kept closed at all times, but it has also been successfully used for home applications. You can generally expect this type of door to detect a speed of about four miles per hour, which is fast enough to prevent any accidents and is fast enough to keep intruders out.
